The Blue Springs HS Football Team defeated crosstown rival Blue Springs South 20-3 on Friday night. The Wildcats were led by Quarterback Chase Donohoe who threw for two touchdowns and ran for one. Wideout Matt Marzolf had 65 receiving yards on his way to hauling in Donohoe’s two touchdown passes. TE/FB Caleb Marquez was 1 for 1 as a passer after throwing a 50 yard pass to WR Trey Wheaton on a trick play.
DL Daniel Parker Jr. and LB Aveion Bailey had excellent performances on the defensive side of the ball. Bailey and Parker Jr. were each instrumental in causing the Jaguars to turn the ball over and each player had 3 tackles for loss. Overall, the defense forced BSSHS to complete only 6 passes on 24 attempts and held the Jags to less than 170 total yards.
The win over the Jags puts the Wildcats record at 6-2 (4-1 in conference) and puts Blue Springs in great position for a postseason run. The Wildcats wrap up the regular season next Friday on the road against conference opponent Ray-Pec.
