Boys Junior Varsity Track, Boys Varsity Track · Boys’ track fields two individual champs at KU


The boys team returned home two individual champions. Senior Jacob Peister won the triple jump with Boys Track 4x4a school record jump of 48’ 5.50.” This mark was 4.50 inches from the current #10 U.S. jump.  Three of Peister’s six jumps were further than the previous school record of 47’ 7.75.”

The other boys champion was senior Carlos Davis in the discus.  His throw of 194’ 7” is currently the #2 in the U.S.

The boys also narrowly missed the Jayhawk Cup in the 4×400 meter relay.  The team of seniors Kane Harmon and Taysean Goodwin, junior Colton Gurera and sophomore Tyree King finished second in 3:20.95.  It was the 9th fastest time in school history and is the state leading time.  Goodwin ran the fastest 4×400 split in school history at 46.99.

Other medalists include:

4×800 Meter Relay – 3rd place team of Gurera, sophomore David Gunn, junior Cody Berry, senior Stephen Mugeche (state leading time of 8:03.13)

Senior Carlos Davis – 3rd place shot put (personal best throw of 57’ 7.75” and #2 Class 5 state mark)

Senior Khalil Davis – 3rd place discus (season best throw of 181’ 1” and #2 state throw); 5th place shot put

Senior Taysean Goodwin – 3rd place 400 meter dash (#2 state time of 48.84)

Senior Kai Miller – 5th place pole vault

Senior Stephen Mugeche – 7th place 1600 meter dash (state leading time of 4:15.67)

Junior Justin Hall – 7th place long jump (Class 5 state leading jump of 22’ 3.23”)

Junior Brandon Kimball – 9th place pole vault
